1970s Jon Adam Cotton Novelty Print Halter Neck Dress
Original 1970s cotton midi dress by British boutique label Jon Adam. The dress has a very desirable novelty scenic print showcasing a Japanese woman picking fruit from a tree surrounded by flying birds. The colour palette is lovely, showcasing slate blue and peachy pink against a pale latte-hued background. A halter-neck silhouette, with a cross-over, fitted bust and panelled waist which gives way to a generously cut skirt that falls almost to ankle length. The skirt is composed of two layers with handkerchief hemlines, the bottom one peeking out from under the top. It fastens at the back with a hidden zip and hook-and-eye clasp. The dress could be worn with a petticoat underneath to give the skirt a fuller silhouette but it works very well without which is how we photographed it.
In excellent vintage condition with the print still fresh in terms of the motifs as well as colours. It is labelled a vintage UK size 14 but vintage sizes run very small and this is a better fit for around a UK 8-10 or US 4-6.
