1950s White Ruched Chiffon Midi Dress
Delightful late 1950s or very early 1960s chiffon wedding dress with ruched fabric, a the body-hugging cut and wide circle skirt. It has a pretty sweetheart neckline, thick chiffon straps to support and boning at the front and sides to cinch the waist and hold its shape. The skirt is full and flouncy and flares out from below the nipped-in waist, ending with a wide ruffled hem that kicks out around the calves. The dress is fully lined in off-white satin with a final layer of calico fabric close to the skin for a comfortable wear. It fastens at the rear with a hidden silver-toned metal zip and hook-and-eye clasp.
This lovely dress is the perfect accompaniment to a garden party in the sun or could easily be worn as a carefree wedding dress. In very good vintage condition, it has a few, very faint marks towards the bottom hemline which you can only see on close inspection and inside the lining of the bust. Unlabelled, but a very well manufactured piece. The fabric has no stretch and the dress would fit up to a size UK 6 or US 2 on account of the small waist.
